I tried. I’m sorry. I’ll get grief for this. I love Game of Thrones and am currently watching The Lord of the Rings with hubs. I wouldn’t do LotR on purpose but you know, sometimes we watch or read things for the one we love .

Anyway I think I see a theme emerging for me. Dragons... hecks yes. Elves... where are the damn dragons? It’s the elves I think. In all the silly unrealistic shenanigans I accept, the elves blow it for me.

In technical news the story just starts. I had to make sure I was actually on the first one. It’s as if the author was like, screw backstory, we in this. It had the feel of a book 2 in a 3 book series. Its entirety was setting up one thing that doesn’t even happen in that book. Eventually I paused the book and started the Netflix series hoping I could sort out who was who and what was happening but it wasn’t terribly helpful.

I think I’ll just stick to occasionally watching my other half play the video game. Now that they’re on game number 3 and have fixed Geralt’s hair so it doesn’t look like a LEGO helmet, it’s less annoying to watch as an artist. Honestly now that I’ve critiqued it on all of its platforms I’m feeling like experiencing it on the heels of GoT’s end is just not a fair fight. Also elves :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You might like it if you like Outlander. It has some of the same character templates, gender roles, and traveling vibes.
