This was not what I was expecting or what the synopsis claimed. It was billed as a discussion among rich southern women about their husband’s suicides. It’s a mostly true account of the murder of a redneck gigolo by a gentile antiques dealer with a cast of characters to die for. See what I did there?
The book was good but the movie directed by Clint Eastwood, starring some of the real characters and a ton of famous people was amazing. I watched it three times. The author himself is pretty interesting and speaks a little about his experience on the Audible version of the book. He went to Georgia to write a fluff piece and wound up in the middle of a murder trial complete with an amazing drag queen, guy that walks invisible dogs, and an oddball that wants to poison the town.
If you like hot mess southern characters full of gossip and their own personal weirdness this is for you. Rent the movie too. I'm gonna buy it!
