The police respond to a call reporting a crying baby and find 3 dead adults, 4 missing kids, and no answers. 25 years later “the baby”, who doesn’t know any of them, is informed she owns the multimillion dollar mansion it all happened in.

I love a 70’s-ish shenanigan with cult vibes. The alternating POVs keep you confused enough to speculate but the simplicity of human nature is what makes the story. I didn’t find this one to be scary but it was sinister. There were so many contributing factors as in life but in this case you get to be a part of the build from multiple angles. ⠀

The conclusion was a little neat for my liking but it was satisfying. Ultimately it makes you think about how easy it is for things to go wrong with new, shiny friends or interests. The people around you shape you but what if instead of shaping, they began to take root, eventually covering you like a creeping vine? ⠀
