This was a fun but very realistic read if you’re in your 30’s. If you’re not that definitely should not be a deterrent. The tiniest bit Legally Blonde a little Silicon Valley, Joan is experiencing the dreaded mid 30’s slump coupled with major work issues. Out of work issues.   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 

When her last contribution to the literary world is rejected harshly she finds a job at a tech startup and intrigue ensues. It bounces back and forth between an almost YA like friend group and grown up attempts to uncover illegal shenanigans.   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While it’s a bit flip-floppy to read it really illustrates how she is straddling a world where everyone contributing is in their 20’s and one which she would like to join. People in the next phase of their life embracing it. She does come to realize millennials aren’t trying to ruin the world but the world has evolved and they relate to it as they’ve always known it.   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It was also full of wise one liners and I think I might have enjoyed it more if 2019 hadn’t gone so similarly for me. I imagine that could also be reassuring if you’re feeling a little directionless.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
