I read this last year when it came out and just realized I didn't post about it! That's the true mark of a mood reader.
This went much faster than The Handmaid’s Tale, played out more like the show and I loved it! It picks up 15 years after Offred's unclear fate with three different women's perspectives.
If you're looking for Handmaid's heavy political voice I'm sorry to say I found this more fun than feminist. I was ok with that but the majority of the rest of the internet didn't seem to be. I don't think you can replicate something like the first book but you can share other perspectives and the evolution of a story and audience with time.
The people that fell in love with the show are looking for a book more like it and Atwood delivered. I loved being in Aunt Lydia's head and loved listening to Ann Dowd lend her voice to it.
