I love Simone St. James and this was a great story but I have to say I saw a couple missed opportunities. If you’re a true crime fan like myself this is a great read but it didn’t have quite the same omph as Broken Girls. Boy, she can write a ghost story though. Spoilers below.


 

I thought for sure the roommate was going to turn out to be one of the killer’s victims and since she didn’t like to be touched, was never touched by anyone in the story, couldn’t sleep, disappeared periodically, and was extremely lucky finding clues would be revealed as a ghost. She wasn't.

 

If Carly had gone back to her apartment after everything was said and done and the landlord swore the roommate didn't exist, I would've 5 starred the heck out of this thing. I also thought the grandson had more potential. It would have been great if his story intertwined with Carly's more. He had a lot of opportunity to add serious creep factor.
